New construction projects not only require large capital investment and long timelines, but also risk damaging the township's original rural character. To address this, Longshui exercised strict project selection and made informed decisions on industrial layout, turning its attention to idle school buildings. In early 2025, it introduced Guizhou Yuxuan Shipbuilding Co to convert the former Longshui Central Primary School into a comprehensive water sports center. The project broke ground in March this year.
The idle school building renovation project consists of two phases and covers 10,000 square meters, with 10 dormitory rooms already converted into family suites, 11 forest cabins built, and supporting infrastructure, including a forest cafe and canteen, completed.
Longshui township is also coordinating the development of a water sports center, introducing yacht experiences and other water leisure projects, with plans to bring in sailing and organize competitions and events.
Once operational, the project is expected to create employment for approximately 30 villagers, with positions covering vessel operations and maintenance, homestay services, food and beverages, sanitation, and park management.
