Drivers approaching the center of Nanjing township can now see vehicles parked in an orderly manner along both sides of the streets, with access routes unobstructed for greater ease of movement.
These notable changes reflect the continued efforts of the Nanjing township Party committee and government in establishing and implementing measures formulated in response to public feedback on how to improve people's quality of life, especially inner-city navigation and parking.
Previously, the Nanjing township Party committee conducted household visits and held public symposiums to listen to the voices of the people and gather public opinion, identifying a number of outstanding issues raised repeatedly by local residents.
The township government, in collaboration with the Kaiyang water affairs bureau, the Kaiyang economic development and investment company, and other departments, carried out a series of on-site surveys before formulating practical action steps.
They measured major road sections such as Road No 27 on a segment-by-segment basis, and scientifically planned the layout of parking spaces based on residents' travel patterns and the actual needs of commercial establishments.
From commencement to completion, it took only three days to finish demarcating all 83 standard parking spaces. More than 20 meters of cracked and potholed road sections in front of the school were completely removed and repaved.
Following the initial rollout of 83 parking spaces in March, the township Party committee and government, again responding to public feedback, added 42 new public parking spaces around the Guizhou-Kaiyang Intercity Railway Nanjiang Station in April.
To date, combined with the existing parking spaces and internal spaces within the township government compound, the total number of free public parking spaces across the township exceeds 300.
