Kaiyang sees 395m yuan in tourism revenue during Spring Festival holiday

During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, Kaiyang organized six categories of 36 cultural and tourism activities. Throughout this period, the county is expected to have welcomed 655,000 tourists, generating tourism revenue of 395 million yuan ($57.38 million).

Focusing on six experience-based themes – refreshing body, mind, eyes, travel, shopping, and taste – Kaiyang launched a series of Spring Festival activities.

The "refreshing body" category centered on sports competitions, with seven events planned such as employee sports events and village basketball games.

The "refreshing mind" category highlighted folk arts, featuring over 20 activities including intangible cultural heritage (ICH) parades, lantern exhibitions, and Lantern Festival riddle gatherings.

The "refreshing eyes" covered two immersive activities, offering visual feasts like "iron flower" displays and lantern opera flash mobs.

The "refreshing travel" introduced six activities, including celebrating Chinese New Year in the countryside, while "refreshing shopping" and "refreshing taste" hosted ICH experiences and bustling markets.

During the Spring Festival holiday, major scenic spots in Kaiyang proved huge hits. The Nanjiang Grand Canyon Scenic Area launched an ICH wellness immersive experience season, attracting over 1,000 visits. The Baimayu Scenic Area combined experiences like the ICH Spring Festival, bonfire carnivals, and Chinese New Year markets, also welcoming over 1,000 visitors. The Hou'er Tiankeng Scenic Area attracted over 10,000 visits with its outdoor adventure products. Townships such as Fengsan town also conducted cultural performances and other traditional cultural events.
