Kaiyang achieves historic leap in education during 14th Five-Year Plan period

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Kaiyang county had worked toward improving its education system and laying a foundation of talent support for the county's sustainable economic and social development.

Over the past five years, Kaiyang's investment in education had reached a historic high, with over 146 million yuan ($20.92 million) poured into preschool education, leading to the construction and renovation of multiple kindergartens. By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Kaiyang had established three provincial-level model kindergartens and 13 municipal-level ones.

The county invested over 1.1 billion yuan in primary and secondary schools. Millions were spent on upgrading computers and other equipment, building smart classrooms, and enhancing campus networks.

Kaiyang improved high school facilities. In 2025, the rate of students passing the college entrance exam exceeded 68.53 percent, with 24.27 percent achieving scores above the special control line.

Kaiyang's vocational education schools introduced specialized programs such as one related to new energy vehicles. Several were recognized as provincial-level quality courses, specialties, and talent training plans.

It also improved conditions for special education schools, where teachers and students showcased their talents in various competitions and exhibitions, ensuring equal access to quality education for children with special needs.

Meanwhile, Kaiyang built a community education network covering urban and rural areas, adding several community schools and teaching sites.
