Kaiyang county's culture and tourism sector delivered an impressive performance in 2025, welcoming an estimated 10.21 million tourists and generating 10.86 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) in revenue.
During the 2025 Spring Festival, Kaiyang received 538,500 tourists, a 9.7 percent increase over the previous year, and recorded tourism income of 324 million yuan.
A cultural event celebrating ethnic traditions was held in Pingzhai village, Kaiyang, on Feb 12. Another event showcasing the county's intangible cultural heritage projects took place the same day at Kaiyang's Yunkai Square.
In March, rapeseed flower fields reached full bloom and related topics on Chinese social media platform Douyin garnered over 5 million views.

In 2025, homestays became a highlight of Kaiyang's mountain villages, with a focus on enhancing visitors' sense of refreshment, comfort, visual enjoyment, taste, shopping, and travel.
On May 4, the opening ceremony of the 2025 summer retreat season was held in Longguansi, Longguang village, Nanjiang township, Kaiyang, marking the beginning of a five-month series of summer activities.
On June 25, the press conference "Selenium-rich Kaiyang: Selenium-enriched Mountain Dwelling travel brand" was held.
Starting July 7, Kaiyang's Shili Gallery Tourist Line began trial operations.
This summer, Kaiyang introduced a new landmark – Wengdongtan Waterfall Scenic Area.
Kaiyang's Nanjiang Grand Canyon saw a peak in visitor numbers this summer, with the proportion of tourists from outside the Guizhou province increasing by more than 60 percent.
Over the past six months, the average daily number of visitors participating in extreme sports at Hou'er Tiankeng has exceeded 400.
Kaiyang's Hefeng township added another landmark project – Xinghe Zipline, which spans 1,314 meters and is expected to open to the public in January 2026.
