Kaiyang residential tourism boosts rural vitalization

Kaiyang county has regarded idle rural houses as a vital resource for rural vitalization since the start of this year, converting them into unique homestays and rural inns. This initiative has helped increase local incomes, promoted the homestay economy, and added momentum to rural vitalization efforts.

Villages such as Longguang village and Miaozhai village have invested in revitalizing unused farmhouses. Profits are shared between farmers and village collectives, while local villagers provide a variety of high-quality services for tourists, and village collectives attract customers.

Focusing on the three key elements of "resources, customers and services", Kaiyang continues to expand its homestay industry. Following a green development and conservation-first principle, the county capitalizes on its favorable climate, rich selenium resources, and unique karst landscape to develop products related to rural living, vacations, agriculture, science education, and healthy agricultural products, creating an ecological rural homestay experience.

Relying on resources such as the cool climate, natural landscapes, local customs, and the unique features of residential tourism demonstration sites, Kaiyang focuses on developing diverse and personalized residential tourism sites. These include wellness and summer retreats, cultural heritage sites, and historical and cultural spots, enhancing visitor satisfaction and well-being. Additionally, Kaiyang promotes sightseeing, ecological, wellness, leisure, and rural tourism products.

Efforts are underway to advance the intelligent management and services related to residential tourism, improving infrastructure such as transportation, healthcare, and daily living facilities at demonstration sites to provide high-quality services for tourists. A dedicated tourism bus line has also been launched, connecting over 10 core scenic spots, including Miaozhai village.
