Harvest season has begun at the kiwifruit planting base in Xinshan village, Huali town, Kaiyang county.
Xinshan has developed a large-scale kiwifruit planting base covering an area of over 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares) that mainly grows the Guichang kiwifruit, which is popular due to its rich aroma and balance between sweetness and acidity.
In 2024, the total kiwifruit production in Huali reached 1,017 metric tons, and that number is expected to exceed 1,200 tons in 2025. The kiwifruit industry not only increases the income of farmers by over 3,000 yuan ($421.13) per person per year, but also provides stable employment and allows villagers to work locally.
Huali plans to focus on the development of "selenium-rich premium fruits", continuing to expand its planting scale, strengthen technical training, and broaden sales channels, promoting the standardization and branding of the kiwifruit industry in an effort to boost rural vitalization.
