The 2025 Taekwondo Grand Slam Youth League (Guizhou Station) and Guiyang's 7th Mass Taekwondo Championship opened on Aug 6 at the Kaiyang County Gymnasium.
The three-day event, hosted by the World Taekwondo (Wuxi) Center, features six age groups – from preschoolers to young adults – and includes five categories: sparring, poomsae, taekwondo dance, robot taekwondo, and virtual taekwondo. Over 600 athletes from 40 teams across China and abroad are taking part.

The tournament, which launched in 2019, is being held in Kaiyang for the first time and will expand to other districts and counties across Guiyang to further promote the sport. From adorable preschool face-offs to high-energy teen competitions, the event showcases the dynamic spirit and appeal of taekwondo.
More than just a sporting event, the championship also serves as a platform for cultural exchanges and supports the integration of sports and tourism in the region.
