Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has tapped into its rich natural and ecological resources to create three key tourism highlights, fueling high-quality development in recent years.

From January to May, Kaiyang welcomed over 4.25 million visitors, an 8.79 percent increase year-on-year, and generated 4.25 billion yuan ($591.7 million) in tourism revenue, up 8.06 percent.

Scenic attractions:

Centering on Nanjiang Grand Canyon and Shili Hualang Scenic Area, Kaiyang has integrated surrounding rivers and landscapes to offer diverse experiences like sightseeing, rafting, and wellness travel, all set amid stunning canyon and mountain scenery.

Outdoor adventures:

With attractions like Hou'er Sinkhole Park and the Yunzhongjun Paragliding Base, the county hosts mountain bike races, paragliding sessions, and rural cultural festivals. These activities blend excitement with leisure, offering a fresh take on sports and cultural tourism.

Boutique stays:

In areas like Hefeng township and Nanjiang town, Kaiyang has developed a range of personalized, high-end homestays – such as Shuidong Xiangshe – designed for sightseeing, social media-worthy stays, and relaxation, meeting the evolving needs of modern travelers.
