Guiyang marathon launched with thousands embracing 'Cool Guiyang'

On June 15, the 2025 Colorful Guizhou Marathon Super League (Station 3) and Guiyang Marathon kicked off at the Guiyang International Convention and Exhibition Center, attracting 35,000 runners from 26 countries and 34 Chinese provinces.

For the first time, the event earned the Road Race Elite Label from World Athletics and introduced AI-powered short video technology that instantly creates highlight clips for participants.

The race was divided into four categories: marathon, half-marathon, 10K, and mini marathon. Over 100,000 people registered, with 35,000 selected by lottery. Participants ranged in age from 5 to 82.

The course showcased Guiyang's natural beauty, passing landmarks like Guanshanhu and Yueshanhu parks. Along the route, ethnic performances – including the Grand song of the Dong ethnic group and Dixi opera – highlighted Guiyang's rich cultural heritage. Refreshment stations served local delicacies that captured the unique spirit of "Cool Guiyang".
