Nanlong township in Kaiyang county is celebrating a bumper loquat harvest, with over 3,800 mu (253.3 hectares) of golden fruit ripening in orchards.
Farmers such as Ren Shiping, who expects to harvest over 4,950 kilograms from his 9-mu plot, are busy picking the sweet, juicy fruit. These loquats are known for their thick flesh and balanced flavor, a result of the area's significant day-night temperature swings.
Attracting visitors from nearby cities such as Zunyi, the township has embraced agritourism, offering pick-your-own experiences and rural sightseeing. Plans are underway to enhance loquat quality through improved cultivation techniques and the integration of agriculture and tourism under a "Party branch + cooperative + farmers" model, boosting both rural economy and visitor appeal.
