Kaiyang resolves rural water issues

In recent years, Gaozhai township in Kaiyang county has focused on addressing unstable water sources, unguaranteed water quality, and aging water infrastructure to ensure a reliable local water supply.

The rural water supply project in Gaozhai township, with a total investment of 8.92 million yuan ($1.22 million), prioritizes upgrades while supplementing with new construction, benefiting 15,000 residents.

The project includes installing 133.39 kilometers of main and branch pipelines, and 174 sets of gate, float and pressure-reducing valves, and constructing one elevated water reservoir.

Gaozhai township currently operates 45 water supply projects. To ensure access to clean water, the township has established patrol teams and emergency repair teams equipped with professional quality inspectors.

These teams are responsible for routine pipeline patrols and promptly addressing leaks, bursts, and fractures in the water supply network. The aim is to achieve uniformity in water sources and quality, service, and supervision within the same supply area, systematically enhancing the management and maintenance of rural water supply projects.

"The water is not only clean but also abundant. It's so convenient for everything!" shared He Dequan, a resident of Paifang village in the township. He explained that in the past, due to the village's high altitude and lack of a stable water source, they had to rely on water deliveries during droughts. This connection to the township's major water network has completely resolved their drinking water issues.

A few years ago, when the township's Dachong village encouraged residents to develop farming and livestock industries, most were reluctant due to the lack of a stable irrigation water source. However, the implementation of the village's rural water supply project in June has sparked residents' enthusiasm for industrial development.
