The Julisheng Kaiyang Phase I 100,000-metric-ton Potassium Hydroxide Project in Shuangliu town, Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is currently the site of much construction activity.

The Julisheng Kaiyang series of projects is invested and constructed by Sichuan Julisheng Chemical Co, a leading national enterprise in fine phosphorus chemical engineering, with a total investment of approximately 2.19 billion yuan ($301.34 million).

The plan is to create a complete industrial chain from raw materials (phosphate rock) to end products (phosphates), divided into three main sections: fine phosphates, basic phosphorus chemicals, and special fertilizers and industrial chain extensions. The projected annual output value of the project is 10 billion yuan, with 500 million yuan to be paid in taxes.

"The currently under-construction 100,000-ton-per-year potassium hydroxide project falls under the fine phosphates section, with a total investment of about 750 million yuan," said Xiang Xin, general manager of Guizhou Julisheng. It will bring Guizhou its first potassium hydroxide production line, filling a gap in Guizhou's high-end fine phosphate sector.

The project is now nearly 90 percent complete, with full production expected by the end of this year, added Xiang. The project is expected to employ over 200 local residents.
