Since the beginning of this year, Gaozhai township in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been seeking to establish a unique brand of tourism.
In a bid to expand the township's reputation, Gaozhai organized a promotional team comprising over 20 photographers, created a WeChat account for the Gaozhai journalist workstation and a Douyin account for the township, and released more than 80 promotional news items and videos. The media at the provincial, municipal and county levels are also actively disseminating Gaozhai's tourism information.
The efforts brought cultural tourism products such as Fengche Yunhai, a bullfighting festival, and campfire parties to the public's attention. So far this year, the township has received nearly 50,000 visitors and seen tourism revenue exceed 1 million yuan ($137,600).
Gaozhai has also been introducing enterprises to develop homestay industry by revitalizing abandoned farmhouses. To date, the township's Paifang village has transformed 18 abandoned farmhouses into 60 homestays. It is expected to increase the income of the village collective by 50,000 yuan.
In addition, efforts have been made to improve the surrounding environment, complete the Longdong River water lifting project and build two public toilets in the Fengche Camping Base.
