At the kiwi plantation in Xinfeng village, Nanmudu town, Kaiyang county, Guiyang, workers are busily performing management tasks, such as dipping and thinning, to prevent the kiwi fruits from rotting or deforming.
So far, Xinfeng village has planted 103 mu (6.87 hectares) of kiwi fruits. Du Jing, chief of the village, is confident in the development of the kiwi industry, and said that in recent years, the yield, quality, and overall benefits of the village's kiwis have improved. Last year, the village harvested 21,500 kilograms of the fruit. This year, through meticulous management, she believes that the yield can reach around 25,500 kg.
With the expansion of the kiwi plantation, the demand for labor has gradually increased, providing many nearby villagers with local employment opportunities. This has helped to fatten villagers' wallets and improve their quality of life.
"I worked at the kiwi plantation last year. My home is nearby, and the pay is decent," said Tao Xianrong, a resident of Xinfeng village, with a bright smile on his face.
