During the May Day holiday on May 1-5, Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 812,800 visits and saw tourism revenue reach 430 million yuan ($59.34 million).
Over the holiday, Kaiyang rolled out 19 cultural and sports tourism activities covering 12 categories such as rafting, cultural performances, tea tourism, sports tourism, parent-child travel, and culinary experiences. The county's scenic spots adapted to local conditions and launched various tourism products to meet the needs of different tourists.
The Shili Hualang Scenic Area offered activities like tea-picking and tasting and loquat-picking, which were very popular with self-driving tourists and family visitors.
Hou'er Sinkhole attracted a large number of young tourists with its super swing, water slackline and cave exploration projects, receiving over 1,000 people daily and becoming a hot spot during the holiday.
Meanwhile, the Nanjiang Grand Canyon Scenic Area offered activities such as rafting, rock climbing, hiking, canyon traversing, CS field battles, and a car camping base, also attracting large crowds.
Additionally, various scenic spots launched promotional activities to offer substantial benefits to tourists.
Some homestays introduced a 20 percent discount on accommodation. Nanjiang Grand Canyon offered a 488-yuan package for two people, including the glass bridge, glass slide, hotel stay, and breakfast. And the Yunzhongjun Paragliding Base launched a 600- yuan single-person special offer for paragliding flights with video recording.
