In recent years, Kaiyang county, in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been focused on building itself into a livable, business-friendly, tourism-friendly, and beautiful place by continuously improving its living environment, rural governance, cultural atmosphere, and prosperity of farmers.

Chuandong village, for example, is working to become greener and improve the quality of its living environment. It has now become an ecologically livable village, shaking off its old image of being poor and rundown.

Longguang village is encouraging villagers to abandon outdated rules and customs and cultivating a new cultural atmosphere by utilizing WeChat groups to conduct online promotion as well as distributing promotional materials and writing slogans to promote the tasks among the people.

Furthermore, Tiankan village is striving to increase incomes for farmers by developing industries and stabilizing employment. At present, the village has developed and planted 4,000 mu (about 267 hectares) of tea, 1,200 mu of yellow peaches and over 200 mu of vegetables. It has successfully introduced four professional tea enterprises and one breeding enterprise, achieving an annual disposable income of over 15,000 yuan ($2,070.56) for its residents.
