The city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – was included in the seventh batch of National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Areas on Oct 27.
Becoming a national demonstration zone for ecological civilization construction is the highest honor granted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to recognize cities and counties that have made outstanding achievements in ecological civilization construction nationwide.
In recent years, Guiyang has made concrete efforts to protect its lucid waters and lush mountains and turn them into invaluable assets. It has achieved remarkable progress in ecological civilization construction.
The city has also introduced a green economy promotion plan focusing on the development of green production, green consumption, green living, green civilization, and more – and has promoted orderly progress towards various targets.
In the field of green production, several industries, such as new energy vehicles and electronic information manufacturing, have seen growth in output value, and progress has been made in the development of the digital economy.
Guiyang has promoted the development of the digital economy and implemented 33 data center and computing hub projects, raising the level of integration between big data and the real economy to 55.16 percent.
In the first half of 2023, green markets accounted for 30 percent of the total market in Guiyang. There were 62 green restaurants and 16 green tourism hotels, and the supply of green products continued to expand.
In addition, 33 conventional bus routes had been optimized and adjusted, and 95 customized bus routes were opened. Construction was launched on 661 new public parking facilities with charging infrastructure.
Lastly, various green brands such as green families, green schools, green communities, and green offices exceeded their targets.
