In recent years, Maoyun township in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has worked to promote agricultural modernization by optimizing its agricultural structure, making full use of technologies, and creating special agricultural brands.
The township has made efforts to select a variety of crops that are suitable for local cultivation. It also improved field roads for machine cultivation, issued subsidies for agricultural machinery, and trained machinery operators.
Since 2023, the township has trained 40 machinery operators, used machinery to cultivate over 4,000 mu (266.67 hectares) of farmland, and issued subsidies of 25,600 yuan ($3,507.20) to six households.
In terms of crop management, Maoyun has adopted drones to spray pesticides, and has provided related knowledge guidance for enterprises and farmers.
Every village of the township is currently creating their own characteristic agricultural industries, aiming to achieve scale production and build an entire processing chain.
So far, camellia oleifera fruit, rapeseed and rice can be processed in the township, and five unique agricultural brands have been developed.
