A groundbreaking ceremony for a centralized energy storage power plant was held in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 28.

The total installed capacity of the plant is 200MW/400MWh, with a total investment of approximately 659 million yuan ($91.40 million). It is one of the 15 "14th Five-Year Plan New Shared Energy Storage Projects" selected by Guizhou province to enhance the province's power supply security and new energy consumption. It is also the only energy storage project in Guiyang.

The plant is expected to generate nearly 10 million yuan in tax revenue for the local government annually. It will accelerate the development of the new energy battery materials industry, increase farmers' incomes, and contribute to the prosperity and development of the local economy.

It will also help Kaiyang build itself into the "Capital of Energy Storage" in China.
