Natural resources empower industrial development in Kaiyang

In recent years, the Kaiyang Economic Development Zone of Kaiyang county in Guiyang has leveraged local natural resources and its strong industrial foundation to promote local economic development.

Based on local high-quality phosphate ore resources, the industrial park has taken advantage of the rapid development of chemical manufacturing and new energy materials, focusing on modern chemical industries with high-end phosphate fertilizers, fine phosphate chemicals, and new energy battery materials. It aims to construct a modern chemical industrial system with a focus on phosphate-based new materials and fluorine-based new materials.

So far, there are 19 industrial enterprises above the designated size in such industries, and from January to May in 2023, such industries achieved a total industrial output value of 10.42 billion yuan ($1.44 billion), accounting for 98.98 percent of the total industrial output value of the park.

Relying on the abundant selenium resources in the area, Kaiyang has established an industrial system with a focus on deep processing of specialty agricultural products, aiming to improve the standardization, scale, and branding levels of local agricultural products.

The industrial park is now home to four industrial enterprises above the designated size engaged in specialty agricultural products. From January to May in 2023, the industry achieved a total industrial output value of 84 million yuan, accounting for 0.8 percent of the total industrial output value of the park.

The zone is also committed to making use of waste to promote the development of new building materials industries. The zone's two enterprises above the designated size engaged in new building materials have generated an industrial output value of 23 million yuan from January to May, accounting for 0.22 percent of the total output value of the park.

The zone will continue to leverage its existing high-quality resources and industrial foundations. Efforts will be made to improve the business environment, develop a complete industrial chain, strengthen industrial supporting facilities, and provide excellent logistical support to enterprises in the zone in order to help them develop as well as expand and strengthen the zone's industries.
