Kaiyang is known as the "hometown of selenium-rich agricultural products in China", as more than 99.91 percent of the soil in the county is rich in selenium, which benefits the growth of yellow peaches.

During the event, Guizhou Yongchuang Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing Zhongnong Hengsheng Agricultural Technology Co, which is expected to boost the development of the village's yellow peach industry.

What's more, a total of about 1,000 kilograms of bulk yellow peaches and 106 gift boxes of yellow peaches were sold, totaling about 80,000 yuan ($11,184).

As of the start of 2023, Miping village had built a 1,600-mu (106.67 hectares) yellow peach orchard and a 15-mu seeding base. It is expected to expand the orchard to 10,000 mu by 2025.

The orchard will be able to produce about 20 million kilograms of peaches, which will have an approximate output value of 400 million yuan and lead to net profits of 250 million yuan. The labor remuneration of 80 million yuan will benefit more than 7,500 households with a per capita income of over 10,000 yuan.

Meanwhile, the village plans to cultivate one county-level enterprise, two professional cooperatives, three family farms, and 100 large-scale growers (more than 100 mu).
