Rose economy drives Kaiyang rural vitalization

Kaiyang county, situated in the scenic province of Guizhou in Southwest China, has witnessed a remarkable surge in rural vitalization thanks to the thriving rose economy in its Shuangliu town. The cultivation of roses has become a lucrative venture, propelling the region's economic growth and transformation.

Currently, the town has a rose garden covering an area of around 400 mu (26.67 hectares).

Rose oil, hydrosol, white wine, and other rose products processed from local roses are popular among consumers.

This year, the rose garden has also introduced a new natural rose laundry detergent product made possible through technological advancements. Since its launch, the product has attracted an overwhelming number of orders from enthusiastic people, thus promising substantial revenues.

Wang Fengshu, the person in charge of the project, expressed her optimistic outlook, stating that the rose garden is poised to achieve a sales amount of over 10 million yuan ($1.44 million) this year.

In addition to selling processed products, the rose garden has launched such services as flower admiring, and nongjiale, or farm homestay businesses, to boost income increase.

Over the past five-day May Day holiday alone, the rose garden received around 500 visits, a testament to its popularity and appeal.

Despite the development of the rose garden itself, Wang introduced that her company aims to help more farmers nearby increase their incomes by rose planting. Free online training courses will be offered to them.
