Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made great efforts in recent years to build a modern chemical industry cluster with new energy battery materials, fine phosphorus chemicals and high-end phosphate fertilizers as its leading industries.
Through years of development, such efforts are now bearing fruit.
In 2022, Kaiyang surpassed all eight of its new-type industrialization goals, with a total industrial output value of 26.53 billion yuan ($3.82 billion), an increase of 56.43 percent.
It is expected that the county's industrial output value will reach 41 billion yuan this year, an increase of 54.54 percent compared with 2022 figures.
In terms of developing the county's new energy battery materials, fine phosphorus chemical and high-end phosphate fertilizer industries, Kaiyang achieved an industrial output value of 6.6 billion yuan in new energy battery materials, seeing a surge of 288 percent year-on-year.
Kaiyang also achieved a combined output value of 10.77 billion yuan in its fine phosphorus chemical and high-end phosphate fertilizer industries, representing a year-on-year increase of 20.25 percent.
The Kaiyang Chemical Industry Park, as one of seven chemical industry parks in Guizhou province, has upgraded itself by optimizing its planning and layout, improving its allocation of elements, improving its safety level, and enhancing its service capabilities.
At present, the safety risk assessment of the park is grade C, with a planned area of 23.25 square kilometers. The park is now home to a total of 72 industrial enterprises.
In 2022, the park completed a total industrial output value of 22.38 billion yuan, an increase of 49.48 percent, which accounts for 95.31 percent of the county's total.
