Edible mushroom planting has become an efficient way for Gaozhai township in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to help rural residents increase their incomes.
In recent years, Gaozhai township has established a total of 232 mushroom-planting greenhouses in the villages of Jiuchang and Paifang, both of which are located within its jurisdiction. Another four mushroom deep processing workshops and cold storage warehouses have been built to facilitate mushroom processing and selling.

To date, edible mushroom planting has provided around 100 stable jobs for local villagers, and the average annual labor expenses are more than 800,000 yuan ($115,107.91).
