Kaiyang forest health care center makes provincial list

The Guizhou Provincial Forestry Industry Federation recently officially recognized the first group of 10 forest health care centers at the provincial level, which included the Shuidong Xiangshe Forest Health Care Center in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou.

The center covers an area of 10.68 square kilometers, a forest area of 8,318.5 mu (554.57 hectares), and a forest coverage rate of 60 percent. It is among the best destinations for eco-tourism and health vacations for those looking to escape the extreme cold and heat.

Its soil is rich in selenium, and the selenium-enriched tea, rice, loquat, vegetables, and rice wine produced there are well-known both inside and outside the province.

The center has developed products such as hot springs, selenium-enriched food, and fitness yoga.

In 2022, the center received about 15,000 visits for recuperation, vacation and tourism, generating a total income of more than 2.8 million yuan ($417,910.45).
