The Maozhulin Reservoir in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, officially passed a water storage inspection on Dec 28.
The reservoir is located in Longshui township, 65 kilometers away from the urban area of Kaiyang county. Huomagou River, where the project is located, is a secondary tributary of the main stream from the Wujiang River.
The total storage capacity of the reservoir is designed to be 1.1 million cubic meters, and the total investment of the project is 72.43 million yuan ($10.33 million).
The reservoir's annual water supply is 2.77 million cubic meters, and it is expected to solve the water shortage problem by providing drinking water to the 2,890 people and 2,244 livestock in Longshui township.
It will also provide irrigation water for paddy fields with an area of 1,350 mu (90 hectares) and dry land with an area of 11,686 mu.
