Residents in Kaiyang county – in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – are set to benefit from the county's efforts to better treat its domestic sewage, handle black and smelly water and safeguard the safety of drinking water.
Under the county's plans, Kaiyang will finish domestic sewage treatment projects for nine villages under its jurisdiction, making sure the treatment rate exceeds 60 percent.

Meanwhile, Kaiyang will complete the construction of water treatment and water supply work for Guilong Farm in the Xicheng sub-district office and for Liangshanzhai Farm in Maoping village. It will also advance a rural water supply project in Hefeng township.
Other plans include the construction of water supply projects for Liuyu village, Anbaiying village, Wengzhao village, Shizi village, Qingjiang village, Huaxi village, Jianzhong village and Gaoping village.
Additionally, Kaiyang will increase capital investment and implement a third-party operation and management model. Furthermore, it will establish a long-term management and protection mechanism for the construction of rural sewage treatment infrastructure, management and maintenance.
