The current proposal on reaching peak carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality means that a profound green transformation industrial revolution is imperative.

This has ushered in a golden period of development for the phosphorus-based new energy material industry represented by lithium iron phosphate, which uses energy storage as an important technology to support the new energy system.

As the most high-quality enrichment area for phosphate rock in China, the basic phosphorus chemical industry in Kaiyang county – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is home to a high amount of sophisticated technology, and has a solid foundation for building a modern chemical industry worth 100 billion yuan ($15.13 billion).

At the same time, in the field of battery energy storage, Kaiyang county's main product lithium iron phosphate has the advantages of high safety, long life and low cost, which is more in line with the market demand of power batteries and energy storage batteries.

The county is striving to grab one-third of the national market demand for positive electrode materials for power storage batteries. Within five years, it hopes to achieve a regional GDP of more than 50 billion yuan and a total industrial output value of 80 billion yuan to turn itself into an energy storage hub.

To this end, Kaiyang county and local enterprises will transform from fertilizer grade to industrial grade, increase the scale of the industry, and improve the level of comprehensive utilization of resources.
