The expansion project for the Kaiyang section of the G354 National Highway is understood to have recently accelerated construction and as a result made strong progress in Kaiyang county – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The Kaiyang section has received a total investment of 2.6 billion yuan ($150.04 million), after construction was officially launched in August 2019.
The total length of the section is 36 kilometers. It runs from Xiaojia'ao, which borders Weng'an county and Kaiyang, to the center of Kaiyang county.

The 16 km section from Xiaojia'ao to Luowanghe is a standard secondary road with a road width of 8.5 meters, while the 20 km from Luowanghe to Kaiyang county has a road width of 20 m.
It is expected that when the construction on the project is completed, the distance from Kaiyang county to the Kaiyang Port Area will shorten to only 20 kilometers, which will greatly improve the logistics and transportation levels of the port.
Currently, the Shizixi Bridge – a major project on the Kaiyang section – has completed about 95 percent of its construction work. All construction work on the bridge is scheduled to be completed within 20 days.
