Kaiyang county – administered by Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently announced solid economic achievements in 2021.
Last year, the county recorded a GDP of 26.61 billion yuan ($3.99 billion), a year-on-year increase of 8.7 percent, ranking it first in areas under the jurisdiction of Guiyang in terms of its growth rate.
The GDP of its primary, secondary and tertiary industries increased by 8.0 percent, 9.7 percent and 9.1 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Kaiyang posted industrial output worth 15.43 billion yuan in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 46 percent.
The added value of industries above a designated size in Kaiyang reached 4.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.1 percent, ranking it number one in growth.
The proportion of industrial added value to the county's GDP increased to 27.55 percent, an increase of 2 percentage points compared with that of 2020.
In addition, in 2021, Kaiyang had general public budget revenue of 1.04 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.9 percent.
The structure of fixed asset investment in Kaiyang is understood to have helped accelerate the county's economic transformation.
Industrial investment accounted for 48 percent of total fixed asset investment, an increase of 9 percentage points and the proportion of private investment rose to 32.45 percent.
