A production line for 500,000-metric tons of water treatment chemicals will officially start up in February – a facility that was funded by Smedic Technology Co at a cost of 5 million yuan ($750,187).

The plant is located in Kaiyang county, administered by Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The production line is configured to achieve automated output. It will mainly produce phosphorus removal agents, denitrification agents, corrosion and scale inhibitors and other treatment agents, which are mainly used by chemicals, medical and sewage treatment enterprises.

Since the production line started trial operations in May 2021, the output value has reached more than 20 million yuan.

Sales of its products in Guizhou account for more than 30 percent of the total revenue in the regional market.

Projections are that in 2022 the annual output will reach 50,000 tons, with an output value of 120 million yuan.

The new facility has provided some 30 jobs for locals.
