A dirt road connecting Kaiyang county's prune industrial park was recently paved with cement, following a construction period of two months.

The road is located in Nanjiang township in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The 3.5-kilometer-long road covers Nanjiang township's 2,200 mu ($146.67 hectares) of fields used for prune planting, which were established in 2017.

In August, the planted prune trees began to bear fruit, however poor road conditions proved impractical for transportation and management, increasing production costs.

The Nanjiang township government spent 1 million yuan ($150,038) on upgrading the road, making local transportation more efficient.

It is expected to aid the transportation and sale of the fruit, as well as make traveling around the township more convenient for local residents.
