Two village-level supply and marketing cooperatives in Kaiyang county -- in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- recently passed acceptance and started operating.
The cooperatives are located in Changhong village in Hefeng township and Zhongqiao village in Nanlong township.
The establishment of the two cooperatives is reportedly in line with Guizhou's strategy to promote the construction of pilot village-level, grass-roots supply and marketing cooperatives.
The newly-established cooperatives have received a total of 100,000 yuan ($15,003.75) in special funds, which are being held by the Qinghe Supply and Marketing Cooperative and the Chengguan Supply and Marketing Cooperative.
The special funds have been earmarked for the establishment of grassroots cooperatives and the improvement of support facilities.
Currently, Kaiyang county has a total of four village-level supply and marketing cooperatives.
Based on the characteristics of its local industries and consumer demand, they mainly provide farmers with agricultural and sideline product purchases and sales services.
These include agricultural production materials, daily necessities, renewable resources, fireworks and firecrackers.
