Kaiyang county -- administered by Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- held talks on June 7 with representatives from Hunan Yuneng New Energy Battery Materials Co Ltd -- to discuss the group's plans to build a phosphorus chemicals plant in the region.
The company -- based in Xiangtan city in Central China's Hunan province -- wants to construct a plant that can produce 300,000 metric tons of iron phosphate and lithium iron phosphate annually.
At the meeting, Xia Shifei, executive deputy head of Kaiyang county, gave a briefing on the county's industrial development plans during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), its development ideas for the phosphorus chemicals industry and Xia also looked at the construction needs of the project.
Sun Xin, head of Kaiyang, welcomed the company's investment in the county, adding that the region was rich in phosphate resources and had good infrastructure and other industrial advantages, making it ideal for starting up businesses.
She hoped that the project would lead to greater ties between Hunan Yuneng New Energy Battery Materials Co and other companies in Kaiyang, to advance the development of the fine chemicals industry in the county and help accelerate its overall economic growth.
The two sides also discussed the site layout, construction, development plan and other details about the plant.
