Construction on Shunerde wharf of the Kaiyang port area of Guiyang Port started on Feb 27, with a commencement ceremony held the same day.
The Kaiyang port area of Guiyang Port is located in the east of Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province. It is the largest tributary on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Wujiang River.
The closest port to the provincial capital, the facility connects with the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Belt and Road route.
Shunerde wharf, which is located in Qingjiang village of Huali town, is one of the bulk cargo terminals in the Kaiyang port area.
With an investment of 35.57 million yuan ($5.5 million), the plan is to build a 500-metric-ton berth with a designed throughput of 800,000 tons per year.
The wharf is expected to be completed and put into operation at the end of June 2021, allowing Kaiyang county's high-quality phosphate rock to be sold to eastern Sichuan and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
