Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been making great efforts to promote the high-quality development of its preschool education system through ensuring education quality, offering adequate school places and enhancing the research ability and skills of teachers.
The county implements integrated management of preschool education in townships (towns) and villages. It has built two municipal model kindergartens, upgraded five kindergartens and created four county-level model kindergartens.
This year, the county plans to establish eight rural kindergarten collective management resource centers and build one municipal model kindergarten.
Kaiyang built four public kindergartens in 2020 to ensure the supply of school places, adding 1,620 preschool places. This year, it plans to invest 47.66 million yuan ($7.38 million) to build a branch of the first kindergarten of Kaiyang county and expand Jiangjiazhai kindergarten, adding 540 school places.
The county also attaches great importance to improving the education level and teachers' training, recruiting 198 kindergarten teachers and offering online and offline training for 1,109 kindergarten teachers in 2020.
