Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is promoting COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures through Bouyei folk songs.

The songs are sung by a team of Bouyei folk singers to increase disease prevention and control knowledge among residents of Hefeng township, which is famous for its ethnic culture. Ethnic people in the township account for 36 percent of the total population.

According to local authorities, with the Spring Festival approaching, the population's mobility has risen sharply, which increases the difficulty of epidemic prevention and control.

The folk songs with epidemic prevention and control messages feature local characteristics and are widely appreciated among locals, they added.

Local Party members also established a voluntary promotion team to improve epidemic prevention and control knowledge in venues where people gather, such as supermarkets, restaurants and hotels.
