In 2020, Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, allocated more than 29.07 million yuan ($4.36 million) in education funding, with 76,738 assistance opportunities offered to students.
Of the total funding, 319,500 yuan was allocated to preschool children, while 4.64 million yuan was allocated as living subsidies for students with financial difficulties at the stage of basic education.

Students from vocational education schools also received total subsidies of 3.35 million yuan in the form of grants, scholarships and tuition exemption.
Additionally, Kaiyang county allocated 1.25 million yuan to assist poverty-stricken students studying in vocational schools, senior high schools and universities, benefiting 622 students.
Another 14.47 million yuan was granted to improve meals for students in the preschool and primary education stages.
