Updated: 2019-09-12

Guiyang's first selenium enriched tea experience center was opened on Sept 8 in Kaiyang county in southwestern Guizhou province, according to local officials.

Selenium is an essential health-giving mineral which experts say may help prevent cardiovascular disease, thyroid problems, cognitive decline, which means disorders related to thinking, cancer, and others.

The experience center is located in Chengbei Road in Kaiyang county. The flagship store provides user experiences offline and also conducts online transactions.

The tea sales are completed by the online system, using internet of things technology.

Officials said the store will give great impetus to the development of the selenium tea industry in Kaiyang, a means to help the county get rid of poverty and increase incomes.

Local officials said that under the guidance of the government, the support of the department and the drive of the enterprise, the experience center had good prospects.

Duan Honglian, deputy head of Kaiyang county and Liu Xiaodong, chairman of Guizhou Tea Resources Exchange Center, attended the opening ceremony for the experience center.
