Kaiyang listed among first batch of national tourist attractions

In 2018, Kaiyang county, upholding the concept of "tourism-oriented agriculture", completed upgrading of its existing tourist sites. It utilized its advantages of mixed cultural elements, such as local Tusi culture of Shuidong, red culture, farming culture and ethnic culture, and promoted integrated development of "tourism culture" through several cultural tourism projects. Under the guidance of a "tourism town", based on its resources in transportation, industry, and culture, the county began constructing national, provincial, and municipal level demonstrative towns. For the purpose of "tourism ecology", it accelerated work on the "City of 100 Gardens Project", seeking to become renowned for its garden-like environment. 

Kaiyang has successfully upgraded both Nanjiang Canyon and Baimayu Thermal Spring to national AAAA tourist attractions, and the "Ten-mile Gallery" has been named a "National Leisure Agriculture and Rural Travel Demonstration". The county was awarded the "Best Destination for Summer Vocation and Wellness Tourism in China" and the "Most Beautiful Ecological Tourism County in China" by the China New Tourism Development Conference 2017, and the "2017 Best Travel Destination" by the China National Travel magazine.
